Children are the future citizens of a country. They should be allowed to live and have the opportunity to develop themselves and participating by learning to write, read, receive healthcare, play games and enjoy a secure life. These various fundamentals are the basic rights for all children.


Children deserve the right to proper care, the right to education, the right to information, the right to justice and health. They should also be allowed to express their opinion. Protection from risk, entertainment, end of exploitation, equal and good behaviour also come under child rights.


Therefore, we have to work towards the all round development of children. They must be protected from a variety of discrimination. We need to encourage them to do well and respect their opinions. We should congratulate them when they do good deeds. Here are a few details that might be helpful for you regarding child rights.


Categories of Child Rights

Right to Survival: Right to food, shelter, clothes, health and security

Right to Development: Right to education, games, exercise, entertainment, support family love and affection

Right to Protection: Right to be protected from exploitation, discrimination, dislike, risky work, social inequality, punishment and war

Right to Participate: Right to participate in child development activities, express their opinions, participate in religious activities and decision making.


Duties of Children

· Be complementary to each other.

· Be obedient and disciplined.

· Study, play, eat and sleep in time.

· Respect teachers, parents and seniors.

· Love, help and care for the juniors.

· Talk politely and show good behaviour to seniors and juniors.

· Learn to speak the truth.

· Share ideas with friends.

· Help the needy people.

एउटा रुखको डालीमा एउटा चरी र चरा बस्थे। एक दिन चरीले चरालाई भने की तिमी मलाई छोडेर त जाँदैनौ। फेरि चराले भन्यो यदि म उडेर गएँ भने तिमी मलाई समाउनु। चरीले धेरै मायालु स्वरमा भनिन्, "म तिमीलाई समात्न त सक्छु तर पाउन सक्दिन। हामी चाहेर पनि एक हुन सक्दैनौ।" यो सुनेर चराको आँखामा आँसु आयो अनि ऊ आफ्नो पखेटालाई चुड़ाईदिन्छ। फेरि चरीलाई भन्छ, " अब हामी सँधै संगै छौँ। फेरि एक दिन ठूलो हावाहुरी आउँछ र चरी उड्न थाल्छे। अनि चराले भन्छ तिमी उड मेरी चरी म उडन सक्दिन। फेरि चरी उड्न थाल्छे अनि जाँदाजाँदै आफ्नो खयाल राख्नु भन्छे। जब हावाहुरी रोकिन्छ अनि चरी फर्केर आउँछे, उसले देख्छ की चरा मरिसकेको हुन्छ अनि एउटा रुखको डालीमा लेखेको हुन्छ की 'सायद चरीले एक पटक भनेर जान्थी की म तिमीलाई छाडेर जान सक्दिन त सायद हावाहुरी आउनुभन्दा पहिला मर्दैनथ्यो।"


अर्थात: माया गर्नु गलत होइन तर गलत मानिससंग माया गर्नु गलत हो। त्यो भनिन्छ नि, तिमी मतलब की संसारमा किन भनिन्छ सम्हलिएर हिंड। यहाँ हरेक मानिस टुटेर बस्छ।
